NFL Films founder Ed Sabol dies at age 98
Monday February 9th, 2015

Ed Sabol, the founder of NFL Films, has died at the age of 98, according to NFL.com.

Sabol founded Blair Motion Pictures in 1962, which became NFL Films in 1964. He retired in 1995, after the company had won 52 Emmy Awards.

During Sabol's time in charge, the league saw innovations such as the first use of a microphone on coaches, referees and players, popular music being used in footage and bloopers videos, according to NFL.com.

Sabol was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011 as a contributor for his work with NFL Films.

The NFL Network will show Sabol's "A Football Life" at 8 p.m. ET on Monday and again at midnight ET on Tuesday.
