Report: RB Frank Gore to sign with Eagles
Sunday March 8th, 2015

The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to sign running back Frank Gore, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Deals cannot be signed until free agency begins on Tuesday, but teams were able to negotiate with free agents beginning this weekend. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Gore is expected to sign a three-year deal with the Eagles in which $7.5 million is guaranteed over the first two years.

Gore, 32 in May, is due to hit free agency for the first time in his 10-year career on Tuesday. He has played only for the San Francisco 49ers, rushing 2,442 times for 11,073 yards and 64 touchdowns.

[daily_cut.nfl]In 2014, Gore had his fourth straight thousand-yard season and the eighth of his career. On 255 carries, he rushed for 1,106 yards and four touchdowns. The 49ers went 8-8, but missed the playoffs and later parted ways with head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Last week, 49ers CEO Jed York told the San Francisco Chronicle that he thought the team "would figure out a way" to re-sign Gore, who made $3.3 million in each of the past two seasons for a cap hit of $6.45 million. He signed a three-year, $21 million contract extension with the 49ers in 2011.

The Eagles had a void at running back after trading LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills last week. Deals cannot be made official until the new league years begins on Tuesday, but reports indicate the Bills will sign McCoy to a new five-year, $40 million contract with $26.5 million guaranteed.

McCoy spent the first six seasons of his career with the Eagles, posting four thousand-yard seasons. Last season, he rushed 312 times for 1,319 yards and five touchdowns. In 2013, he had his most productive season, rushing 314 times for 1,607 yards and nine touchdowns.

The Eagles finished 10-6 last season, but missed the playoffs.
