St. Louis Rams offensive guard Rodger Saffold has been placed on injured reserve after undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery, head coach Jeff Fisher announced Thursday.

Saffold injured his right labrum during the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers. He injured the same shoulder during the preseason.

Saffold played in all 16 games last season, but failed a physical with the Raiders two years ago due to a shoulder issue that caused Oakland to back out of a contract offer. In January, Saffold underwent surgery on his left labrum.

St. Louis added tight end Justice Cunningham from the practice squad to take Saffold's roster spot, after tight end Lance Kendricks had thumb surgery this week.

The Rams are 2–3 and face the Browns on Oct. 25 after this weekend's bye.
