The Detroit Lionshave placed cornerback Rashean Mathis on injured reserve, ending his season.

Mathis sustained a concussion in the Lions’ Week 7 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Mathis was suffering from headaches throughout the next two weeks, causing him to miss one more game and eventually end up on IR.

The Lions re-signed the 35-year-old Mathis to a two-year, $3.5 million contract this past off-season. Now in his 13th season, Mathis has 32 career interceptions in time with the Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Nevin Lawson started in Mathis’s place in Detroit’s last game. Crezdon Butler will take Mathis’s spot on the 53-man roster.
