Giants safety Nat Berhe tweeted Thursday that his cousin was killed in Wednesday’s mass shooting in San Bernardino, Calif.

Berhe, who attended San Diego State and is a native of San Bernardino County, tweeted about the shootings on Wednesday, noting that his parents worked at an office building close to the IRC building where the shootings took place.

Around 11 a.m. Wednesday, two shooters opened fire at a party in the building, killing 14 and wounding 21. Two suspects were killed later Wednesday following a car chase. Their motives remained unknown as of Thursday, but the FBI is investigating the shooting as possible terrorism.

Berhe, 24, has missed the entire season with a calf injury.
