Reports: Eagles’ Peters took self out to avoid injury for non-playoff team
Philadelphia Eagles left tackle Jason Peters removed himself from Saturday’s game against the Redskins because he did not want to get injured while playing for a non-playoff team, reports Howard Eskin of FOX 29 in Philadelphia.
Eskin reports Peters as saying “I‘m not going to get hurt for this” as he took himself out of the game in the fourth quarter. The report was confirmed by Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News.
The Eagles lost 38–24 to Washington on Saturday, which clinched the NFC East for the Redskins and eliminated Philadelphia from post-season contention. The loss dropped the Eagles to 6–9.

Peters is under contract with the Eagles through 2018 after signing a five-year deal before the 2014 season. Peters has been with Philadelphia since 2009 after spending the first seasons of his career in Buffalo.
