The Browns have named quarterback Robert Griffin III a team captain, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Griffin, who is entering his first season in Cleveland after a three-year stint in Washington, was recently criticized by Redskins Hall of Fame defensive back Darrell Green for being a selfish player. With the Browns, Cabot reports, "teammates have raved about leadership skills and his ability to bring the team together."

Joe Haden, Demario Davis and Tank Carder were also named captains in a player vote.

Griffin will be starting under center for the first time since 2014, when he played just nine-games in an injury-shortened season.
