2014 NFL draft: Teddy Bridgewater didn't want to play for Cleveland Browns

Depending on which reports you believed over the weekend, the Cleveland Browns may have been seconds away from drafting Teddy Bridgewater with their second first-round pick. Instead, the team opted to draft Johnny Manziel over Bridgewater, who was snapped up by Minnesota with the last pick of the first round.

The unpredictability surrounding the fate of the first-round quarterbacks in last weekend's draft was somewhat dampened on Tuesday, when Bridgewater said on The Dan Patrick Show that he told his agent he wasn't interested in playing for the Browns.

Bridgewater went on to say that he felt more comfortable with Minnesota throughout the draft process.

The feeling may have been mutual, as plenty of rumors floated Cleveland's interest in Manziel and Blake Bortles leading up to the draft, while Bridgewater was regarded as more of a potential consolation prize for the Browns late in the first round.

The excitement in Cleveland surrounding Manziel's selection will likely soften the fury typically directed at picky rookies by the cities whose teams they spurn. Fans in Cleveland won't have the opportunity to air any grievances with Bridgewater this season, in any case, as the Vikings and Browns are not scheduled to play each other.
