The Buffalo Sabres are close to announcing a five-year contract extension worth $23 million for forward Tyler Ennis, according to the NHL Network's Kevin Weekes.
Ennis, 24, scored 21 goals and recorded 22 assists as the Sabres scuttled to the NHL's worst record last season.
A first-round pick in 2008, Ennis has spent all five seasons of his career in Buffalo.
Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News reports that the Sabres did not indicate a deal was imminent.
