On Wednesday, Capitals fans saw a lighter and sweeter side of captain Alex Ovechkin.

The fiery, trash-talking, big-goal-scoring Ovechkin gave one young fan in Toronto a pretty awesome birthday gift: his game-used stick. The youngster had a sign requesting the memento from Ovi, and while he couldn't give it to her before the game, he made up for it by potting a goal before handing it off.

Not only did he apologize, but he made it up to her with a postgame meet-and-greet on what we're guessing is a birthday she won't forget.
