Watch: Jets’ Byfuglien scores two goals, celebrates by dabbing
Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien may be one of most oft-mentioned players on the NHL’s trade block, and on Tuesday, the Arizona Coyotes probably wished he was already gone.
‘Big Buff’ certainly made his presence felt in a 5-2 win on Tuesday in Winnipeg, notching a pair of goals that goalie Louis Domingue wishes he could have back.
First, he extended the Jets’ lead to 3-0 on slap shot from center ice that got the fans out of their seats at the MTS Centre early in the second period:
Later in the same frame, Byfuglien broke in all alone on Domingue, ripping a shot that found its way under the netminder’s pad to make it 5-1. While the goal was pretty enough on its own, the hulking defenseman went to the next level with his celebration, bringing the dab to the NHL.
Byfuglien finished the night with three points, adding an assist on the first of rookie Nikolaj Ehlers’s three goals on the night, and now has 29 points in 49 games on the season. His 14 goals are tied with Arinzona’s Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Carolina’s Justin Faulk for the second-highest total among blue liners, four behind San Jose’s Brent Burns.
