TCF Bank Stadium was transformed into an ice rink ahead of this year’s NHL Stadium Series, the league announced Wednesday.
The football stadium, on the Twin Cities campus of the University of Minnesota, was equipped with a regulation-sized ice rink for the outdoor Stadium Series, which will take place between the Chicago Blackhawks and Minnesota Wild on Sunday. The event will mark the first outdoor professional hockey game in Minnesota state history.
Also taking place at the converted stadium will be an Alumni Game on Saturday between various hockey legends from the Wild, Blackhawks and now-defunct Minnesota North Stars.
