Adidas unveiled its new ball for the 2014-15 Champions League season during recent qualifying matches.

The ball is similar to the one used last season. The ball has orange, red, and black star-shaped panels that connect with white hexagon shapes in between.

The surface is covered by a series of small nubs that help control the ball's flight and keep its movement true in the air.

The explosion pattern splits the ball in half for a design move that adidas say "represents the rivalries between the competing teams in this year's tournament."

The ball also has the adidas and Champions League logos on the white panels.
