Aritz Aduriz forced his way onto highlight reels around the world and the goal of the season conversation with his effort in the Europa League on Thursday.

Aduriz, the Spanish and Athletic Bilbao forward, unleashed a vicious volley from over 30 yards out to give his side a 1-0 lead over Marseille in their round-of-32 first leg in France.

Aduriz, 35, displayed perfect technique after a header from Sabin Merino landed in his path. Aduriz, reading it the whole way, loaded up and uncorked a right-footed blast that zoomed over goalkeeper Steve Mandanda and underneath the crossbar to open the scoring.

Watch the remarkable goal (and tremendous goal call) below:

Aritz's goal stood as the game-winner, as Athletic Bilbao will nurse the 1-0 edge at home in the return leg next week.
