Sarah Thomas became the first female to officiate a football game in a Big Ten stadium, according to an Associated Press report. She will be working the Rice-Northwestern game.

Thomas will serve as the line judge Saturday in Evanston. She also became the first woman to officiate a major college football game when she worked the Jacksonville State-Memphis game in 2007. Thomas is currently a Conference USA official.
