No. 7-seed Angelique Kerber defeated No. 14-seed Victoria Azarenka 6–3, 7–5 in the Australian Open quarterfinals on Wednesday in Melbourne. 

Azarenka was up 5–2 in the second set, but Kerber saved five set points and won five straight games to close out the win.

Kerber will now move on to the semifinals where she will play the winner of the Johanna Konta, Shuai Zhang match.

This is Kerber’s first win against Azarenka. She was previously 0–6 up against the Belarusian player.
