Chargers-Raiders Thursday Night Football Betting Preview

Now into the second half of the 2019 NFL season, the playoff picture is starting to come into focus. That said, there is still a long way to go and it starts with the NFL Week 10 schedule and betting odds.

Kicking things off, Thursday Night Football features an all-California clash as the Los Angeles Chargers and Oakland Raiders meet at RingCentral Coliseum, in Oakland, CA. This AFC West duel is slated for 8:20 p.m. ET on Nov. 7, 2019.

Spread: Chargers -1 (-110), Raiders +1 (-110)

Moneyline: Chargers (-120), Raiders (EVEN)

Total: OVER 48 (-110) UNDER 48 (-110)

Raiders’ Season to Date

Oakland (4-4) enters this contest fresh off a 31-24 home win over the Detroit Lions. The victory halts a two-game losing skid and moves the Raiders into eighth place overall in the AFC. Oakland is behind Pittsburgh (4-4) due to a tiebreaker and half a game behind Indianapolis (5-4) in the AFC Wild Card race.

Raiders’ Betting Record: ATS 5-3-0, OVER/UNDER 5-3-0

Raiders’ Leaders on Offense

QB Derek Carr: 1,984 pass yards with 13 TD and 4 INT

RB Josh Jacobs: 842 total yards with 6 TD

WR Tyrell Williams: 355 receiving yards with 5 TD

Chargers’ Season to Date

Los Angeles (4-5) also picked up a Week 9 win as it cooled off a red-hot Green Bay Packers squad with a 26-11 victory. Following a rough 2-5 start, the Chargers have won two straight as they beat the Chicago Bears 17-16 during Week 8’s action. The Bolts sit 11th overall in AFC playoff standings.

Chargers’ Betting Record: ATS 3-5-1 OVER/UNDER 2-7-0

Chargers’ Leaders on Offense

QB Philip Rivers: 2,609 pass yards with 12 TD and 7 INT

RB Austin Ekeler: 851 total yards with 8 TD

WR Keenan Allen: 657 receiving yards with 3 TD

TE: Hunter Henry: 388 receiving yards with 2 TD

Recent History Favors Los Angeles Over Oakland

The two teams are long-time AFC West division rivals, as they met twice during the 2018 NFL season with Los Angeles winning both contests. The Chargers covered -6 during a 26-10 home win on Oct. 7 and then -9.5 with a 20-6 victory in Oakland on Nov. 11. The Bolts have won the last four contests in this series and have covered the spread during each of those meetings.

Raiders vs. Chargers Final Thoughts and Pick

Both teams trail Kansas City (6-3) in the race for top spot in the AFC West. Given that this is a divisional battle, neither side should be looking past this contest. However, the Chiefs visit the Chargers next week, prior to the Bolts’ BYE, while the Raiders host winless Cincinnati (0-8) during Week 11’s action.

Following a lengthy holdout, while hoping to sign a new contract, tailback Melvin Gordon is rounding back into form as he posted 109 total yards and two touchdowns versus the Packers. That, along with the Chargers’ stingy defense, is bad news for the Raiders in this matchup.

Pick: Chargers -1

Record: 0-0
