A’s vs. Braves Prediction, Odds, Probable Pitchers, Prop Bets for Wednesday, April 1

In this story:
The Atlanta Braves wrap up a three-game set with the A’s on Wednesday afternoon, and they have ace Chris Sale on the mound for the second time in the 2026 season.
Sale spun six innings of scoreless baseball in his debut against the Kansas City Royals, and he’s looking to move to 2-0 this season against an A’s team that is still in search of its second win of the season.
The A’s have righty Luis Severino (3.60 ERA this season) on the mound for the second time in 2026.
Oddsmakers have set the Braves as -219 favorites in this game, but there may be a better way to wager on them than simply taking them outright.
Here’s a look at the latest odds, my favorite prop bet and a prediction for Wednesday’s series finale.

A’s vs. Braves Best MLB Prop Bet
Braves Best MLB Prop Bet
- Chris Sale UNDER 4.5 Hits Allowed (+123)
I love this prop at plus money for Sale, who allowed just three hits in his season debut and is coming off a strong 2025 season.
Last season, the All-Star lefty had a 1.066 WHIP, giving up just 102 hits in 125.2 innings of work. Now, he takes on an A’s team that is 29th in MLB in OPS and 29th in batting average (.185) this season.
I think Sale is a solid bet to keep the A’s in check, especially since he may not work as deep as usual in this game. The Braves had the lefty throw just 88 pitches in his 2026 debut.
A’s vs. Braves Prediction and Pick
Earlier today, I shared in SI Betting’s MLB Best Bets column – Walk-Off Wagers – why I’m fading the A’s offense:
The A’s rank 29th in MLB in OPS through the first week of the 2026 regular season, and they’ve scored just 16 total runs in five games.
So, I’m fading them against Atlanta Braves ace Chris Sale, who tossed six innings of scoreless ball in his 2026 debut against the Kansas City Royals. Sale allowed just three hits in that game, and he should be able to keep the A’s in check through the first five frames in this game.
Last season, Sale had an impressive 2.58 ERA, allowing one or fewer runs in 12 of his 21 starts. So, I wouldn't be shocked to see him slow down an A’s lineup that is not only 29th in OPS overall but also ranks in the bottom 10 in the league in OPS against lefties early on in the 2026 campaign.
Pick: A’s First 5 Team Total UNDER 1.5 (-145 at DraftKings)
