In this story:

The Arizona Cardinals have been mainstays in the basement of the NFC West for most of the last decade.

They’ve made the playoffs just once since 2015, losing in the Wild Card round to the Rams in the 2021 season. Since then, the Cardinals have combined to go 19-49, including 3-14 last season.

Things don’t look promising for Arizona in a tough NFC West.

Let’s take a look at what the oddsmakers think of the Cardinals this season.

Can Cardinals Show Progress This Season?

The Cardinals have added some top players at skill positions in recent NFL Drafts. They took wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. fourth overall in 2024, and running back Jeremiyah Love third overall this year.

Arizona still needs to add in the trenches, though, and while Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew II have been around the block a time or two, they aren’t exactly quarterbacks that you want running your franchise.

The Cardinals do have another offensive weapon in Trey McBride, who broke out for over 1,200 yards and 11 touchdowns last season. He’ll look to build on that this year.

All in all, though, this is still very much an uphill climb for the Cardinals.

Even if they are able to win a handful of games, all that does is tank their draft pick. And if they’re able to surprise some people and get close to .500, there’s not much they can do with the Rams, Seahawks and 49ers with them in the NFC West.

It’s likely to be another long season for the Cardinals in Arizona. The good news, if you want to look for a bright spot, is that their win total is slightly favored to the over. The bad news is that the total is set at 3.5.
