We took a small step in the wrong direction on Monday, going 1-2 for a loss. The good news is we're still in the green for the year, so let's get back on track with a winning night tonight.

All 30 MLB teams are in action on Tuesday, so we have plenty of options to choose from for today's sports betting slate. Let's dive into my top plays.

Betting $100 Every Day for a Year Record

  • Yesterday: 1-2 (-$32.41)
  • Year-to-date: 373-390-12 (+$187.31)

August 11 Picks and Best Bets

Cubs vs. Nationals Best Bet

Pick: $30 on OVER 9 (-105)

The Chicago Cubs and Washington Nationals have been two of the hottest offenses in baseball over the past month. In that time frame, they rank second and third in wRC+. While the Nationals have yet to name a starter as of writing this article, I feel comfortable fading Shota Imanaga. He has a 3.60 ERA, but a 4.38 FIP, and now he has to take on the best lineup when facing left-handed pitchers in all of baseball.

All of that lines up for tonight being an offensive shootout.

Mariners vs. Yankees Best Bet

Pick: $30 on UNDER 8.5 (-124)

We go from one game that features two of the hottest offenses in baseball to a game featuring two of the coldest. The New York Yankees are 29th in baseball in wRC+ over the past 30 days. The Los Angeles Angels are the only team that has been worse offensively in the past month. The Mariners are 17th in that time frame, but their stock is hurt tonight by the fact they have to face a lefty starter in Ryan Weathers. The Mariners' numbers fall off when facing lefties, with their wRC+ falling from 103 to 90.

As a cherry on top, the two bullpens in this game rank first and eighth in ERA, so I don't expect many late runs. Let's bet the UNDER.

Rays vs. Athletics Best Bet

Pick: $20 on Athletics F5 ML (+128)

Nick Martinez of the Tampa Bay Rays is going to regress sooner rather than later. He has an impressive ERA of 2.65 on the year, but his 4.60 FIP and 4.00 xERA are a massive red flag heading into tonight's road start against an Athletics lineup that has been solid lately. I don't trust the Athletics' bullpen, which is the worst in baseball, so we're instead going to target the first five-inning moneyline and take a chance on the Athletics to get a hot start against an overperforming Martinez.

Rockies vs. Diamondbacks Prop Bet

Pick: $20 on Tomoyuki Sugano OVER 3.5 Earned Runs Allowed (+118)

Tomoyuki Sugano is the biggest regression candidate on the mound tonight. He has a 4.47 ERA but a 5.39 FIP and a 7.22 xERA. Despite playing for the Rockies, who have the least pitcher-friendly ballpark in baseball, Sugano has a 5.13 ERA when pitching on the road this season, which is another concerning factor ahead of tonight.

Tonight, he has to face a Diamondbacks offense that's eighth in the Majors in wRC+ over the past 30 days. Let's take the plus-money bet on him to give up 4+ earned runs.
