Best Bets Today for August 12: Day 220 of Betting $100 Every Day for a Year

We took a step in the right direction on Tuesday, going 2-2 but managing a profit of around $13 thanks to cashing our two $30 plays.

We move on to Wednesday's slate which includes plenty of MLB action. I am once again targeting four different games, including going back to the well on the OVER between the Cubs and the Nationals.

$30: Tigers -118 vs. Guardians via Caesars
$20: Cubs vs. Nationals OVER 9.5 (-102) via FanDuel

$30: Rangers -127 vs. Angels via BetRivers

Guardians vs. Tigers Prediction

Pick: $30 on Tigers -118

The Tigers somehow have a losing record at 59-60 despite having a run differential of +89, which is the best mark in the entire American League. They've been especially good lately, ranking second in the Majors in wRC+ over the past 30 days.

They have the lefty on the mound in Framber Valdez, which is bad news for the Guardians. Cleveland's wRC+ falls from 97 against right-handed pitchers to 88 against left-handed pitchers, which is 26th in MLB.

I'll back the Tigers as home favorites.

Cubs vs. Nationals Prediction

Pick: $20 on OVER 9.5 (-102)

I bet the OVER in this game yesterday and it soared over the total, finishing with 14 combined runs. I'm going back to the well with the same bet today for the exact same reasons. These two teams have had two of the hottest offenses in baseball over the past 30 days, ranking third and fourth in wRC+ in that time frame. The Nationals are also the best lineup in baseball against left-handed pitchers, and now they get to face an even worse lefty tonight when David Peterson (5.35 ERA) takes the mound for Chicago.

Expect another high-scoring affair.

Mariners vs. Yankees Prediction

Pick: $20 on Mariners +119

The Mariners have the advantage in this game when it comes to starting pitchers. Bryce Miller (3.08 ERA) will get the start for Seattle and Will Warren (4.18 ERA) will get the start for New York. Additionally, the Yankees offense continues to be one of the worst in baseball, ranking 29th in wRC+ over the past 30 days. That's enough for me to take a chance on the Mariners as underdogs in this spot.

Rangers vs. Angels Prediction

Pick: $30 on Rangers -127

The Angels' offense is truly horrific right now. They have a wRC+ of 68 over the past 30 days, which is the worst in the Majors by eight. That's also well below the Rangers, who have a wRC+ of 95 in that time frame.

The Angels will also be rolling with rookie George Klassen on the mound tonight, who has allowed seven earned runs in his first 8.2 innings pitched in his career. The Rangers are responding with Cal Quantrill, who has put up a solid effort this season with a 3.56 ERA.

The Rangers should be much bigger favorites.
