Daily Dinger: Best MLB Home Run Prop Bet Picks Today (Target Rafael Devers, Matt Olson, More)

In this story:
Most of Major League Baseball is off for a travel day, and the Toronto Blue Jays-Chicago White Sox game was postponed on Thursday, leading to a small three-game slate:
- Minnesota Twins @ Kansas City Royals
- Atlanta Braves @ Arizona Diamondbacks
- New York Mets @ San Francisco Giants
Even though there are just a couple games set for April 2, I’m eyeing a few players to leave the yard.
Kansas City Royals lefty Cole Ragans allowed three homers in his 2026 debut, and he could be a fade candidate in the lone afternoon matchup on Thursday. Plus, I’m eyeing two left-handed sluggers to go deep, even though one of them has a tough left-lefty matchup on Thursday night.
Let’s dive into the latest odds and analysis behind these home run props on April 2.
Best MLB Home Run Prop Bet Picks for Thursday, April 2
Odds via DraftKings Sportsbook
Royce Lewis to Hit a Home Run (+541)
Minnesota Twins third baseman Royce Lewis is healthy to start the 2026 campaign, and he’s already hit two home runs. A career .260 hitter against left-handed pitching, Lewis is worth a look against Kansas City Royals lefty Cole Ragans, who was rocked in his first outing of the season by Atlanta.
Ragans allowed six hits, four runs and three homers against the Braves, and he’s coming off an injury-riddled 2025 season where he allowed seven homers in 13 starts.
Lewis is set at north of 5/1 to go deep, but he’s actually fared pretty well against Ragans in his career, going 2-for-7 with a homer and a walk.
With just three games on Thursday, Lewis is one of my favorite targets in this market, especially since he’s set at such a high price.
Matt Olson to Hit a Home Run (+419)
There aren’t a ton of hitters in Major League Baseball that dominate right-handed pitching more than Matt Olson. The Atlanta Braves first baseman is slugging .521 against right-handers in his career, and he’s coming off a 29-homer season where 23 of his long balls came against righties.
So, I like him on Thursday night against Arizona Diamondbacks righty Ryne Nelson, who allowed 17 homers in 33 appearances (23 starts) last season and has already given up two homers in the 2026 campaign.
Olson has homered against Nelson in his career, going 1-for-5 against the 28-year-old starter.
An extra-base hit machine (Olson led the NL in doubles last season), the Braves star has the power to go deep on Thursday.
Rafael Devers to Hit a Home Run (+650)
San Francisco Giants star Rafael Devers has yet to hit a home run in the 2026 season, but that could change on Thursday night against the New York Mets.
Devers has fared well against Mets starter David Peterson in his career, going 5-for-16 (.313) with a double. He’s never homered off of Peterson, but Devers has displayed some power against left-handed pitching in his career, posting a .740 OPS.
Last season, Devers homered nine times against left-handed pitching.
Peterson doesn’t give up a ton of home runs – he allowed just 11 in 30 starts last season – but the wind on Thursday is supposed to reach 20.8 miles per hour in San Francisco and will be blowing out to right-center field. That should help Devers and other power hitters go deep, and it’s worth noting that the New York bullpen has allowed a pair of homers already this season.
I think that bodes well for Denvers’ chances of hitting his first homer of the season, and at +650 he’s an absolute steal in this market.
