Big 12 Conference Prediction, Odds for 2026 College Football Season (Texas Tech Favored to Win Back-to-Back Titles)

Six different teams have won the Big 12 Championship Game over the past six years, with the Texas Tech Red Raiders being the most recent winners, beating BYU 34-7 in last year's conference finale.

This year, it's the most lopsided power conference in the country, and the streak of parity has a strong chance of ending this season as the Red Raiders enter the season as the odds-on favorite to repeat as Big 12 champions.

Let's dive into the odds to win for every team, and then I'll break down which teams we should focus on when it comes to where we should place our money.

2026 Big 12 Prediction

Texas Tech is set as the -105 favorite to win the Big 12, which is an implied probability of 51.22% of winning the conference for the second straight season.

The Red Raiders won't have Brandon Sorsby this season due to a gambling-related violation, but I still think they're the clear team to beat in the Big 12 in 2026. Texas Tech had one of the best defenses in the nation last year, allowing just 12.2 points per game, which was the second-fewest behind only Ohio State. Most teams that dominate at that level will see a drop-off the following season due to losing players to the draft and the transfer portal, but Texas Tech leads all Big 12 teams this season in returning production at 65%.

There's no denying they'll once again have the best defense in the conference, which leaves the only question mark being whether or not Will Hammond will play well enough at quarterback to lead them to the promised land. Hammond is returning from an ACL tear, but he had looked great in his eight appearances last season. He, or whoever is playing at quarterback, will be able to lean on star running backs Cameron Dickey, J'Koby Williams, and Quentin Joyner.

If you want to bet on a team other than Texas Tech to win the conference, I'd throw out the Houston Cougars at +1500. They were better than most people would think in terms of advanced metrics like EPA and success rate last season, and they're clearly trending in the right direction as a program, improving from 4-8 in 2024 to 10-3 in 2025. They have the second-highest percentage of returning production in the Big 12 this season, so if they take another step forward in 2026, they could be in the mix at the end of the year.

Still, this is Texas Tech's conference to lose.
