The Chicago Cubs have another southpaw on the mound as they continue their road series against the Washington Nationals on Wednesday night.

Matthew Boyd and Shota Imanaga helped the Cubs to victory in their last two games, and they’re looking for the same from David Peterson tonight. Chicago has won seven of its last eight games overall.

Meanwhile, last night’s loss ended a three-game winning streak for the Nationals.

Here are the odds, probable pitchers, and predictions for Cubs vs. Nationals on Wednesday, Aug 12.

Cubs vs. Nationals Odds, Run Line and Total

Odds via DraftKings Sportsbook

Run Line

  • Cubs -1.5 (-103)
  • Nationals +1.5 (-117)

Moneyline

  • Cubs -159
  • Nationals +148

Total

Cubs vs. Nationals Probable Pitchers

  • Cubs: David Peterson (6-7, 5.35 ERA)
  • Nationals: Jackson Kent (9-4, 3.72 ERA in minors)

David Peterson has been fantastic for the Cubs in his last five starts. The southpaw has allowed a total of six runs (five earned) on 20 hits in 28.2 innings in that span.

Jackson Kent started the season in Double-A Harrisburg before moving up to Triple-A Rochester, where the southpaw went 8-3 with a 4.38 ERA in 13 starts.

Cubs vs. Nationals How to Watch

  • Date: Wednesday, Aug 12
  • Time: 6:45 p.m. ET

Cubs vs. Nationals Best MLB Prop Bets

Cubs Best MLB Prop Bet

  • Pete Crow-Armstrong OVER 2.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+109)

Pete Crow-Armstrong is building himself a nice case for NL MVP with Shohei Ohtani off the mound for a while.

He is 22 for 73 (.301) with six home runs, seven doubles, and three triples in his last 18 games. He scored 19 runs and drove in 17 during that span.

Cubs vs. Nationals Prediction and Pick

I’ve tried to avoid betting on the Cubs with Peterson on the mound, but he’s earned my trust, especially against a fading Nationals squad.

The Cubs are 35-26 on the road this season while the Nationals are just 26-35 at home. This is a tough spot for Kent to make his MLB debut as well.

Pick: Cubs -159
