September kicks off with a full 15-game slate in the MLB on Tuesday night as playoff races heat up across the league.

After a 2-1 start to the week, I’m targeting a road favorite and a pair of totals for my MLB best bets tonight.

Let’s get right into the MLB best bets – and their odds at the best betting sites – for Tuesday, Sept. 1.

MLB Best Bets for Tuesday, Sept. 1

Odds via DraftKings Sportsbook

  • San Diego Padres (-135) at Cincinnati Reds
  • Seattle Mariners at Boston Red Sox OVER 7 (-122)
  • Philadelphia Phillies at Arizona Diamondbacks UNDER 7.5 (-105)

San Diego Padres (-135) at Cincinnati Reds

The Padres got back on track with a shutout win to open their series in Cincinnati, and now they have the edge on the mound tonight.

Randy Vasquez has allowed four runs in 23 innings across his last four starts, including five one-hit frames against the Pirates last time out. Meanwhile, Nick Lodolo has allowed 10 runs on 16 hits in 7.1 innings in his last two starts against the Diamondbacks and Giants.

San Diego is 73-65 while Cincinnati is 65-73, and the Padres should be bigger favorites tonight.

Seattle Mariners at Boston Red Sox OVER 7 (-122)

The Mariners and Red Sox both scored more than seven runs themselves in a wild series opener last night, as Boston stormed back late to tie the game and then win it in extra innings.

It’ll now be Bryan Woo on the mound for the Mariners. The right-hander got roughed up for six runs on five hits in four innings against the Phillies last time out.

Meanwhile, the Red Sox called up Jedixson Paez to make his team debut.  He’s allowed four runs on seven hits in 12.1 innings across three starts for Triple-A Worcester.

I don’t trust either pitching situation tonight, and both teams have shown they can put runs on the board.

Philadelphia Phillies at Arizona Diamondbacks UNDER 7.5 (-105)

It’s a pitcher’s duel in the desert with Jesus Luzardo set to face off against Eduardo Rodriguez.

Luzardo was spectacular in August, allowing just seven runs (five earned) on 21 hits in 34.1 innings across five starts, including seven shutout innings in Seattle last time out.

Rodriguez has thrown 12.2 scoreless innings across his last two starts after allowing two runs in six and seven innings in his previous two outings.

After a 2-1 Phillies win last night, I don’t see these bats coming alive for more than a handful of runs tonight.
