NBA MVP Odds: Luka Doncic Remains Behind SGA, Wemby Despite Massive Game vs. Cavs

The MVP race in the 2025-26 season has been one of the best in recent memory, as four players have a realistic chance of winning the award:
- Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
- San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama
- Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic
- Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic
Doncic was the only one of these players that was in action on Tuesday night, and he put together a massive game in a win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. The star guard finished with 42 points, five rebounds and 12 assists. Doncic finished the month of March averaging 37.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game.
Yet, his MVP odds did not move after Tuesday’s performance.
Doncic remains at +1500 to win the MVP, which keeps him behind SGA (-350) and Wemby (+250) with less than 10 games left in the regular season. Doncic has moved the Lakers into the No. 3 spot in the Western Conference, but it may not be enough for voters to choose him as the league MVP.
Still, if there is a player with some value in the betting market, it could be Doncic at this price since he has the season-long numbers to compete with Gilgeous-Alexander and Wembanyma. The issue is that both the Spurs and Thunder are likely going to finish with over 60 wins, putting them well ahead of L.A. in the standings.
Wembanyama is also going to win the Defensive Player of the Year award – he’s currently a -5000 favorite – which furthers his case as the best two-way player in the NBA.
Here’s a quick look at the latest odds to win MVP in the 2025-26 season.
Latest NBA MVP Odds for 2025-26 Season
Odds via DraftKings Sportsbook
- Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: -350
- Victor Wembanyama: +250
- Luka Doncic: +1500
- Nikola Jokic: +6000
- Jaylen Brown: +25000
- Donovan Mitchell: +50000
- Kawhi Leonard: +100000
- Jalen Brunson: +100000
- Anthony Edwards: +100000
It appears this award race is down to two players, as Jokic (+6000) has fallen well out of contention based on the odds and Doncic’s huge month of March wasn’t enough to move him ahead of SGA or Wemby in this market.
On Friday, ESPN’s Tim Bontemps is set to release his final straw poll for the league’s MVP, which will give a ton of insight into where voters are leaning with just over a week to go in the regular season.
That could cause a massive shift in the odds, especially if Wemby or Doncic ends up first in the poll. For now, it appears Gilgeous-Alexander has a pretty strong grip on the top spot with OKC on pace to finish with the best record in the NBA.
