Rockies vs. Nationals Prediction, Odds, Probable Pitchers, Prop Bets for Monday, Aug. 24

In this story:
The Colorado Rockies and Washington Nationals have combined to lose 10 games in a row heading into this week’s series.
The Rockies just got swept by the Dodgers and Guardians on their six-game homestand, and the Nationals got swept in Miami after dropping their final game in Texas.
The Nationals took two of three from the Rockies at Coors Field just over a month ago.
Here are the odds, probable pitchers, and predictions for Rockies vs. Nationals on Monday, Aug. 24.

- Nationals -1.5 (+112)

Rockies vs. Nationals Probable Pitchers
- Rockies: Ryan Feltner (5-7, 5.97 ERA)
- Nationals: Cade Cavalli (11-5, 3.22 ERA)
Ryan Feltner had a few decent starts (for his standard) before getting roughed up for seven runs in five innings by the Dodgers at Coors Field last time out. He had allowed five runs in 10.1 innings in his previous two starts.
Cade Cavalli hasn’t allowed a run in his last two starts, yielding just four hits with 21 strikeouts and three walks in 14innings. He’s thrown eight straight quality starts, allowing a total of 13 runs (11 earned) in 50 innings (1.98 ERA) in that span.

Rockies vs. Nationals Best MLB Prop Bets
Rockies Best MLB Prop Bet
- Ryan Feltner UNDER 3.5 Strikeouts (+104)
Ryan Feltner hasn’t been a strikeout pitcher in his career (355 K in 431.2 IP) or this season (64 K in 92 IP), and while this line is low at 3.5, it’s apt for the right-hander.
Feltner has gone UNDER 3.5 strikeouts in four straight starts and six of his last seven, bringing him to 12 of 19 starts this season. He’s been wearing down as the season moves along, and I see another low-strikeout outing on tap tonight.
Rockies vs. Nationals Prediction and Pick
I broke down this pick in SI Betting’s daily MLB best bets column, Walk-Off Wagers:
Both of these teams have been going downhill for a bit now. The Rockies have lost six straight games, scoring just 21 runs on their winless homestand. The Nats weren’t much better on their road trip, going 1-8 with a total of 20 runs scored.
Ryan Feltner allowed seven runs in five innings last time out, but that was at Coors Field against the Rockies. He was more serviceable in his previous starts, allowing five runs in 10.1 innings.
Cade Cavalli has been a huge bright spot for the Nationals this season and recently. He’s thrown 14 shutout innings with 21 strikeouts, three walks, and four hits allowed in his last two starts.
I don’t see either of these offenses breaking out tonight in Washington.
Pick: UNDER 8 (-107)
