Sky vs. Valkyries Prediction, Odds, Best WNBA Prop Bet for Wednesday, Aug. 12

In this story:
The Golden State Valkyries are in a great spot to land at least the No. 2 seed in the WNBA this season, and they’re favored at on Wednesday night against the Chicago Sky.
Golden State lost to Chicago all the way back in May, but these teams have gone in very different directions since then.
The Valkyries have the No. 1 defense in the WNBA and are 13-4 at home, putting themselves in the title conversation.
The Sky, on the other hand, are a long shot to make the playoffs even though they’ve won five of their last 10 games. Chicago ranks in the bottom half of the league in net rating, and it has struggled on the road, winning just four of 16 games.
So, should bettors back the Valkyries to cover a pretty major spread on Wednesday?
I’m eyeing a prop and a side for this matchup, as the Sky look to cling to any playoff life over the final stretch of the regular season.

Sky vs. Valkyries Best WNBA Prop Bets
Valkyries Best WNBA Prop Bet
- Veronica Burton UNDER 6.5 Assists (-135)
Valkyries guard Veronica Burton has seven dimes in each of her last three games, but I’m fading her in this matchup with Chicago.
The Sky rank sixth in the league in defensive rating over their last 10 games, and they’re sixth in opponent assists per game for the entire 2026 season.
Burton was held to just four dimes in the first meeting between these teams, and she’s averaging 5.7 assists per game overall.
If this prop was set at 5.5, I think the OVER would be in consideration, but this is entirely too high for the Valkyries star guard. Burton only has 12 games this season (out of 32) where she has picked up at least seven assists.
Sky vs. Valkyries Prediction and Pick
Chicago’s season-long numbers aren’t impressive, but the Sky have the sixth-best defensive rating in the league over their last 10 games, and they’ve jumped to ninth overall in net rating.
The Sky upset the Valkyries – in Golden State – back in May, but they look a lot different now with Rickea Jackson done for the year. Still, Chicago is 8-4 against the spread as a road underdog, and there’s an interesting trend developing with the Sky in their last 10.
Over this 10-game stretch, Chicago is 5-5 straight up, keeping every game within nine points or winning it outright. So, a blowout win by Golden State may not be as easy to come by as the standings would suggest.
The Valkyries have the No. 1 defense in the WNBA, but they’re just seventh in offensive rating and have covered in only seven of 13 games when favored at home.
I’d bet on Golden State to win this game outright as a parlay piece, as it has an impressive 13-4 record at Chase Center. Still, laying this many points is tough when Chicago has an average scoring margin of just minus-3.4 points per game when set as a road underdog.
Pick: Sky +9.5 (-110 at DraftKings)
