We’re officially in the back half of August and have a full 15-game MLB slate on tap for Friday.

I’m looking at a road underdog, a home favorite, and a low-scoring game in Los Angeles for my MLB best bets on Friday night.

Let’s get right into the MLB best bets – and their odds at the best betting sites – for Friday, Aug. 21.

MLB Best Bets for Friday, Aug. 21

Odds via DraftKings Sportsbook

  • Tampa Bay Rays (+116) at Baltimore Orioles
  • San Diego Padres (-121) vs. Minnesota Twins
  • Pittsburgh Pirates at Los Angeles Dodgers UNDER 8 (-105)

Tampa Bay Rays (+116) at Baltimore Orioles

Fading the Orioles has worked out well recently as Baltimore has now lost four in a row after getting swept by the Yankees. It doesn’t get much easier with the Rays coming to town this weekend.

Tampa Bay is going to be looking for some revenge after losing three of four to the O’s last week. Three of those games were decided by one run, with the O’s getting a 10-2 win in the other.

Freddy Peralta pitched well enough in that blowout loss, allowing two runs on one hit and three walks in 4.2  innings, and he’s starting to settle in down in Tampa.

This could very well be another close game, but I think there’s value on the better team as road underdogs tonight.

San Diego Padres (-121) vs. Minnesota Twins

The Padres will be happy to be back at home, where they’re 37-26 on the season. They held their own on their road trip, winning two of three in Cleveland before dropping two of three to the Mets.

The Twins have also had their ups and downs recently, getting swept by the Phillies before sweeping the Braves. Still, I don’t think this Minnesota team is for real, and the Twins are just 28-34 on the road.

Connor Prielipp got roughed up last time out, and Randy Vasquez has allowed two runs in his last two starts.

I’ll take the Padres to get back on track as they return home.

Pittsburgh Pirates at Los Angeles Dodgers UNDER 8 (-105)

The Dodgers broke out with 24 runs in their three-game sweep at Coors Field, but I don’t trust that to carry over into this home series against the Pirates.

Bubba Chandler has allowed a total of four runs in his last three starts, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto has been his usual dominant self as of late.

This could be a pitcher’s duel in Los Angeles tonight.
