No wonder his nickname is Money.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. will make at least $32 million for his rematch with Marcos Maidana in Las Vegas on Saturday, ESPN.com's Dan Rafael reported, citing the contract filed with the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Friday.
Writes Rafael: "Mayweather ... controls most of the revenue for the fight — from the pay-per-view sales, the gate, foreign television sales, sponsorships, merchandise and closed circuit sales — so when a full accounting is done he likely will earn far more than $32 million."
This will be the fourth fight on Mayweather's six-fight contract he signed with Showtime in 2013. He will have been paid a minimum of $137.5 million for those bouts.
Maidana (35-4, 31 KOs) will make a minimum of $3 million for the 147-pound welterweight bout, which is double his guaranteed pay from the May fight, according to Rafael.
