The World Boxing Association has stripped Luis Ortiz of his interim heavyweight title, according to ESPN's Dan Rafael

A urine sample provide before Ortiz's Sept. 11 first-round knockout victory over Lateef Kayode tested positive for Nandrolone. Ortiz was suspended for eight months from the date of the fight, fined and ordered to complete community service.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission voted to strip Ortiz of his title in January, Rafael reports, and the move was made official Tuesday.

Ortiz's representatives originally intended to challenge the positive test but offered no explanation at a January disciplinary hearing.

Ortiz, 35, defected from Cuba in 2010. He is 21-0 with 18 knockouts in his professional career. The championship bout vacated by the drug test was ruled a no-contest.
