Boxer Gervonta Davis Taken Into Custody Following Court Hearing for Hit-and-Run Case

Boxer Gervonta Davis was taken into custody Thursday and will serve the remainder of his three-month sentence for a hit-and-run in a Baltimore jail, according to a report from Justin Fenton of The Baltimore Banner.

Davis, who was sentenced May 5 for a 2020 hit-and-run crash that injured four people, was ordered to serve 90 days house arrest at the home of his trainer, Calvin Ford. He was also ordered to complete 200 hours of community service, complete a program at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland and take part in a Mothers Against Drunk Driving victim impact panel.

Davis was taken into custody one month into his sentence, following an unexpected hearing. Court records did not indicate a hearing or violation of his sentence, but sheriff Sam Cogen confirmed that Davis was taken into custody.

Davis won his last fight in the ring in April via seventh-round technical knockout against Ryan Garcia. The win moved Davis to 29–0 for his career, which now includes 27 knockouts.
