When Can We Expect The Next Gennadiy Golovkin vs. Canelo Álvarez Fight?

Whenever boxing is able to return, one of the biggest fights that can be made right away is a middleweight showdown between Canelo Alvarez and Gennadiy Golovkin. These are two of the biggest stars in boxing, and before this pandemic really took hold, they had agreed to financial terms for a fight in September.
Now, this was a fight that a lot of people, especially casual fans, were looking forward to, but there's been some pushback on the side of Gennadiy Golovkin to having that fight right away. Golovkin had kind of a ho-hum 2019. He won a middleweight title once again. But his wins over Steve Rolls and Sergiy Derevyanchenko were not all that emphatic. So Golovkin's camp seems to prefer that Golovkin take an interim fight against his top challenger, Kamil Szeremeta, and then go into a fight with Canelo Alvarez.
There are arguments to made on both sides. The argument to go right into a Canelo Golovkin fight is that these two have waited long enough. Their last fight was in September of 2018. It was a terrific fight. Canelo pulled out a close decision, but it will be almost two years now since that fight. Golovkin is 38 years old. He's not getting any younger, he's not getting any better, so there should be an impetus to have this fight right away. On the flip side of it, Golovkin didn't have a great 2019, while Canelo Alvarez was the fighter of the year in 2019. So if Golovkin could face Szeremeta, a guy that he should knock out right away, that would be a good propellor into a Canelo fight.
I think everybody wants to have this fight in 2020. The question is, will it happen in September or perhaps later on in the year in December.
