No. 6 Virginia became the first top-15 team to lose a game this season when the Cavaliers lost to George Washington on the road on Monday.

The Colonials had four players score in double figures, led by Patricio Garino with 18 points. Redshirt senior guard Malcolm Brogdon led the way for Virgina with 27 points, nine rebounds and four assists.

GW opened the season with a win over Lafayette while Virginia won over Morgan State in its first game. 

Virginia is the second team ranked in the preseason Top 25 to lose a game this season. Wisconsin, which was ranked 17th, was upset by Western Illinois in its season opener on Friday.
