Brandon Wimbush, a heralded quarterback who attends St. Peter's Prep (N.J.), announced Tuesday that he has flipped his commitment from Penn State to Notre Dame.

Wimbush visited Notre Dame last weekend for the Irish's three-point win over Stanford.

The 6-foot-1, 212-pounder is the No. 2 pro-style quarterback and No. 65 player in the class of 2015, according to rankings on the recruiting website Rivals.com.

Rich Hansen, Wimbush's coach at St. Peter's spoke to SI.com about Wimbush in July:

“I think, more than anything else, [Wimbush] has really worked on his throwing motion, his technique, his footwork, the mental approach to the game,” Hansen said. “And I think he’s just done a phenomenal job of becoming a quarterback who happens to be a great athlete as opposed to a great athlete playing the quarterback position.”

Wimbush is the 18th player (and the only quarterback) in the class of 2015 to commit to the Irish. Notre Dame's 2015 recruiting class is ranked 12th in the country, according to Rivals.com.
