Auburn is making a quarterback change and will start Sean White over Jeremy Johnson, head coach Gus Malzahn told reporters on Tuesday.
White, a redshirt freshman, has not taken an in-game snap for the Tigers. He came to Auburn as a four-star recruit and the No. 4 quarterback in the class of 2014, according to Rivals.com.
Johnson, a junior, has completed 43 of his 72 pass attempts (59.7%) for 473 yards with five touchdowns and six interceptions over Auburn’s first three games. In the Tigers’ first loss of the season on Saturday at LSU, Johnson went 11 of 19 for 100 yards, two touchdowns, one interception and one lost fumble in the 45–21 LSU win. He also led Auburn with 41 rushing yards and one touchdown on 12 attempts.
Auburn will host Mississippi State on Saturday night. The Tigers fell out of the AP Top 25 after Saturday’s loss.
