The 33rd Outback Bowl will be held at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. on Jan. 1 and pits Mississippi State (8–4) against Iowa (8–4). Kickoff is slated for noon ET.

The Hawkeyes are no stranger to the Outback Bowl and are making their sixth appearance since 2003 when they square off against Mississippi State. Head coach Kirk Ferentz has lost his last two Outback Bowls – losing 30-3 against Florida in 2017 and 21-14 to LSU in 2014.

Mississippi State is seeking its fourth nine-plus win season in the last five years. The Bulldogs boast the NCAA's No. 1 scoring defense under first-year head coach Joe Moorhead, allowing just 12 points per game. Mississippi State has won its last three bowl games.
