After scoring two touchdowns in his last three games (the latest coming in the Longhorns' 35-13 win over Kansas on Nov. 2), Texas defensive tackle Chris Whaley suffered a leg injury early against West Virginia on Saturday. His knee seemed to buckle, and the training staff took him off the field on a cart.

Whaley had tears in his eyes. At first glance, the injury appears to be serious.

The 6-foot-3, 295-pound senior is the anchor of a Longhorns' defense that has allowed just 18.2 points per game during a five-game winning streak that dates back to Sept. 21. Not long after Whaley's injury, the Mountaineers took a 9-0 lead on a two-yard touchdown run by senior tailback Charles Sims.
