Add another quarterback to the list of possible franchise changers in the 2014 NFL Draft: Wyoming announced Friday evening that Brett Smith will forgo his senior season and head to the pros.

Smith had 3,375 yards and 29 touchdowns to 11 interceptions this season. He also added rushing 573 yards and four scores on the ground. In a memorable Week 1 game against Nebraska, Smith had 475 total yards and four touchdowns in an unsuccessful upset bid, with the Cowboys falling 37-34. The team disappointingly missed a bowl game at 5-7, dropping five of its last six games.

The Cowboys fired coach Dave Christensen, who has since been hired at Utah as offensive coordinator, and hired North Dakota State's Craig Bohl. Having Smith would have made Bohl's first season a bit easier, but no one can fault Smith for leaving in a transitional time if he is getting word his stock is where he wants it to be.
