Four-star defensive end Solomon Thomas kicked off National Signing Day on a high note with his commitment to Stanford live on ESPNU. Thomas, Rivals.com's No. 3 strongside defensive end, pulled out a tree and donned nerd glasses as he committed to the Cardinal on national TV.

Thomas had narrowed his list of schools to Stanford, Arkansas and UCLA after previously considering Ohio State and Texas. He visited the Razorbacks with his final campus visit two weeks ago -- his sister attends school in Fayetteville -- but he ultimately decided to pledge his services to coach David Shaw. With 78 tackles, 12.5 sacks and 26 tackles for loss as a senior at Coppell (Texas) High, Thomas should fit right in with the Cardinal's stout defense.
