Auburn coach Gus Malzahn will see his salary increase from $2.3 million per year to $3.85 million as part of a new contract announced by the university of Friday.

Malzahn's revamped contract, which was originally announced in December, extends his deal with Auburn two years through 2019. It includes a $250,000 increase each year, meaning that Malzahn's compensation will reach $5.1 million by the end of the deal.

Malzahn's contract also includes numerous incentives:

The new contract includes incentives, such as playing in the national championship game ($300,000), winning the national title ($500,000) and playing in one of the top six bowl games ($200,000). Malzahn will also receive $140,000 annually over the next five years to offset his buyout to Arkansas State.

Malzahn engineered a remarkable turnaround with the Tigers in 2013. After taking over a program that went 3-9 in 2012 -- including 0-8 in the SEC -- Malzahn won the SEC title and reached the BCS championship game before falling to Florida State. Auburn finished the season 12-2 in his first year on the Plains.

Auburn also announced contract extensions and raises for Malzahn's staff, including defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson, the Tigers' highest-paid assistant. Johnson received a $50,000 raise to $800,000 annually.
