Michigan State's Kenny Kaminski dismissed from team
Michigan State forward Kenny Kaminski has been dismissed from the program, head coach Tom Izzo said Monday.
Kaminski had said on Twitter Saturday that he was no longer on the team and intended to transfer.
Last season, Kaminski averaged 4.9 points and 1.5 rebounds and shot a Big Ten-best 49.4 percent from three-point range in 12.2 minutes per game.
A three-star recruit in the class of 2012, Kaminski chose Michigan State over scholarship offers from Ohio State, Indiana and Michigan, among other programs.
He redshirted his first season after injuring his shoulder as a senior at Medina (Ohio) High School. Kaminski was suspended two games twice last season for academics.
Kaminski reportedly suffered a back injury in a summer league game earlier this month.
Michigan State has lost three of its top four scorers -- two of whom, Gary Harris and Adreian Payne, became first-round NBA draft picks -- from a team that posted a 29-9 record and earned a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament before falling to eventual national champion UConn in the Elite Eight.
