Ohio State's Braxton Miller named captain, undergoes surgery
Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller has been named one of the team's captains, head coach Urban Meyer announced Monday.
Miller underwent shoulder surgery on Tuesday, which Meyer said "went well," adding that the quarterback sent him a picture after the surgery was completed. It was performed in Florida by Dr. James Andrews, known for his work with athletes.

Miller, a senior, tore the labrum in his right shoulder in practice last week, putting him out for the entire 2014 season. He originally injured his shoulder in the Buckeyes' Orange Bowl loss to Clemson in January and underwent surgery in February.
Meyer said that Miller will accompany the team on Ohio State's road trips once he has the ability, even though the quarterback will count against the 70-man travel roster limit.
In addition to Miller, four other players, all seniors, were named captains for Ohio State: cornerback Doran Grant, linebacker Curtis Grant, tight end Jeff Heuerman and defensive tackle Michael Bennett.
Ohio State opens the season Saturday against Navy in Baltimore. Redshirt freshman J.T. Barrett will likely start in Miller's place at quarterback.
