Report: Herb Sendek to sign three-year extension
Arizona State and men's basketball coach Herb Sendek have agreed to a three-year contract extension, keeping Sendek with the Sun Devils through the 2018-19 season, according to a report by Chris Karpman on ASUDevils.com.
The extension still needs to be approved by the Arizona Board of Regents. Sendek's current contract expires after the 2015-16 season. He makes $1.2 million annually.
Sendek will enter his 22nd year of coaching this season. He has accumulated a 395-276 record and eight NCAA tournament appearances during stints with Miami (Ohio), North Carolina State and Arizona State. He has appeared in two NCAA tournaments with Arizona State over eight years and is 140-119 as the head coach of the Sun Devils.
The Sun Devils will add four junior college transfers to their roster this season, including 6-foot-5-inch swing man Shaquielle McKissic. The team will be without star point guard Jahii Carson this season after he declared for the NBA draft after just one year with Arizona State. He went undrafted.
Arizona State ended its 2014 season when it lost to Texas in the second round of the NCAA tournament 87-85 on a Cameron Ridley buzzer-beater.
