Source: Iowa LT Brandon Scherff (knee) to start against Iowa State

Iowa star left tackle Brandon Scherff will start Saturday against rival Iowa State, according to a source.
There had been questions about whether the 6-foot-5, 320-pound redshirt senior would even play against the Cyclones after he injured his right knee a week ago during a 17-13 victory over Ball State a week ago. He was helped off the field and initially went to the locker room but returned after missing a series.
“Pretty remarkable,” the source said.
There was a report Tuesday that Scherff had knee surgery, but during the Big Ten coaches’ teleconference, Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz didn’t confirm or deny the report. Scherff is projected to be one of the top picks of next year’s NFL draft.
