Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley has indicated that football coach Will Muschamp will be evaluated over the course of the entire season.

Florida is 2-1 this season with wins over Kentucky and Eastern Michigan and a 42-21 loss to Alabama. Muschamp has faced questions about his job security since the Gators went 4-8 last season.

Foley's comments came in the Orlando Sentinel:

"You never judge or evaluate a program based on one game or one season," Foley said. "That's just not how we do things here. We're going to evaluate where we're headed – where the players are, how is recruiting going, what type of staff we have — are we a better (program)? That's going to be plain for all of us to see, but it's also going to be played out over the course of 11 games and we'll see where we are when we get to the end of the season."

In August, Foley said he envisions Muschamp leading the Gators for a "long, long time." Foley said on the Paul Finebaum show in July that "We’re going to be better, and we’re excited about the future under Will. [We] feel the same way about him as the day we hired him."

Florida's four wins last season were the program's lowest win total since 1978 and the team finished in fifth place in the SEC East. One of the Gators' eight losses was to FCS program Georgia Southern

The Gators have gone 24-17 in three plus seasons under Muschamp.
