Report: Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield's eligibility appeal denied
Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield has had his eligibility appeal denied by the NCAA, according to Jake Trotter at ESPN.com.
Mayfield requested a waiver for immediately eligibility this season, citing his status as a walk-on for Texas Tech last season as the reason why he should be subject to different transfer rules.
Though Texas Tech waived the Big 12 rule preventing Mayfield from receiving a scholarship, the school blocked the transfer itself, preventing Mayfield from playing this year and costing him a year of eligibility.

Mayfield was the Big 12 Freshman of the Year for the Red Raiders last season, but decided to transfer in December.
After the appeal was officially denied, Oklahoma requested that Texas Tech certify Mayfield's immediate eligibility. However, Trotter reports that Texas Tech officials again declined to certify the move.
In eight games a walk-on true freshman at Texas Tech, Mayfield passed for 2,315 yards and 12 touchdowns, with a 64.1 completion percentage. He added 190 yards and three touchdowns rushing.

Texas Tech is currently 2-2 and 0-1 in-conference. They travel to play Kansas State next weekend. Oklahoma (4-0) plays TCU on the road on Saturday.
