Each week, the college football team here at SI will delve into the fun, the weird and the wacky of college football with a series called Between The Hashes. It’s a way to decompress from the madness of the week, and to find a few things that you might have missed.

You knew a week like this was coming. You could feel it with the almosts, the could-have-beens and the what ifs that popped up over the last few weeks. And all at once we had a culmination of everything that makes college football great. It was a Saturday that kicked off with Katy Perry wearing a fuzzy jersey sweater hurling corn dogs at a television camera. It was going to be strange, it was going to be inexplicable, but doggone it, it was going to be marvelous.

Week 6 gave us everything you could possibly want and more on the field, and the peripheral noise wasn't so bad either. 

Duck Hunt

Major props to the Arizona communications team for getting this graphic ready. Even more props if the graphic was made beforehand. 

Turn Down For What?

It may not have ended up helping in the long run (Tennessee fell 10-9 to Florida), but it wasn't for lack of trying. Lil Jon was brought on as some sort of spirit animal, started by tweet (later deleted) by Lil Jon saying "HOLLA @ ME" to the Tennessee football account. When it was all said and done the rock had been painted in Tennessee's colors with Lil Jon's face and the godfather of Crunk was all decked out in orange and white.

The Dead Frog Play

Perhaps the single greatest moment of the spectacular Week 6 (and I'm a bit biased here) came on a play that didn't even count. TCU's B.J. Catalon fell flat on his face, blended in with the purple end zone, played dead, and then sprinted out of the end zone on a fake kickoff return. If not for a penalty on the play, it would have worked. You can barely even notice Catalon on the play. He sold it perfectly. I'm all for more of this. And the Horned Frogs were ultimately rewarded for their ingenuity (and great play overall) with an upset win over Oklahoma.

Katy Perry Won the Day

No this isn't a misprint. The pop singer was on College GameDay doing all sorts of weird things, but her picks ended up coming true in what can only be described as the biggest soothsaying since Biff stole the Sports Almanac in Back To The Future 2.

She naturallygloated a bit, celebrating while others ate crow.

Big Lineman Fall Hard

Some things are just poetry in motion. This is one of those things. Just watch as Nebraska lineman Jake Cotton falls over on a false start penalty against Michigan State that was memorialized in slow-mo.

The Uga I – Uga VIII Memorial Mascot of the Week

This award usually goes to an actual mascot, furry or living, but in the spirit of the award, I'd be remiss not to recognize important human mascots as well. This week celebrates Woody Harrelson, who channeled his True Detective co-star Matthew McConaughey in his love for college football by bringing Ole Miss a little much-needed oomph.
