Clemson QB Deshaun Watson to miss a month with broken finger
Clemson freshman quarterback Deshaun Watson will miss about a month of action after upcoming surgery to heal a small broken bone in his finger, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinnney said.
Swinney said that Watson will have the surgery on Monday. He was injured in the second quarter of Clemson’s 23-17 victory over Louisville on Saturday.
Swinney said that Watson could possibly return by mid-November.
“He’s out for Boston College, Syracuse, then an open date and then we’ll play Wake and then Georgia Tech,” Swinney said, according to Tigernet.com. "It’s not out of the questions. It may be sooner or later. The one positive is that it’s a quicker healing bone and because of what they’re doing, they will be able to splint it and do some rehab with him.”

Watson had started the past three games, completing 67 percent of his passes for 1,176 yards with 12 touchdowns and two interceptions.
Senior Cole Stoudt, who has one touchdown and two interceptions, will take over starting with the Boston College game on Saturday. Swinney said he was proud of the way Stoudt performed against Louisville after not having practiced all week.
