Nebraska running back Ameer Abdullah has sprained MCL, bruise
Nebraska running back Ameer Abdullah has a bruise and a mild sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his left knee, suffered in Saturday’s game against Purdue.
Abdullah was injured in the first quarter of Nebraska’s 35-14 victory over the Boilermakers when he tried to recover a fumbled snap by quarterback Tommy Armstrong on a fourth-and-goal play.
Abdullah had one rushing yard on six carries before leaving the game. His two replacements, Imani Cross and Terrell Newby, combined for 108 yards.
Nebraska (8-1, 4-1 Big Ten) has next week off before returning to action at Wisconsin on Nov. 15.

Nebraska coach Bo Pelini did not say anything about Abdullah’s availability for the team’s next game during his postgame press conference and is expected to discuss it during a Tuesday conference call with the media.
“Ameer's a great player, but he's not Superman,” Pelini said to the Omaha World-Herald. “I don't think that affected our other guys. If anything, it should make them want to rise up and play that much harder and rally around each other when a great player goes down. Let's not read too much into it.”
Abdullah's 1,250 rushing yards are fifth-most in the nation. He has also added 17 touchdowns, plus 13 receptions for 169 yards and two touchdowns this season.
